Benazir Bhutto
Benazir Bhutto; 21 June 1953 - 27 December 2007) was a Pakistani politician. Bhutto was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was sworn in for the first time in 1988 but removed from office 20 months later under orders of then-president Ghulam Ishaq Khan on grounds of alleged corruption. In 1993 Bhutto was re-elected but was again removed in 1996 on similar charges, this time by President Farooq Leghari.

Bhutto went into self-imposed exile in Dubai in 1998, where she remained until she returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007, after reaching an understanding with General Musharraf by which she was granted amnesty and all corruption charges were withdrawn.

She was the eldest child of former premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a Pakistani of Sindhi descent, and Begum ("Lady") Nusrat Bhutto, a Pakistani of Iranian-Kurdish descent. Her paternal grandfather was Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto who came to Larkana Sindh before partition from his native town of Bhatto Kalan which was situated in the Indian state of Haryana.

She was assassinated on December 27, 2007 in a combined suicide bomb attack and shooting during a political rally of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the town of Rawalpindi. Ex-government spokesman Tariq Azim Khan said that, although it appeared that she had been shot, it was unclear whether her wounds had been caused by a shooting or shrapnel from the bomb.

Sindhi Topi (cap) Asif Raza Morio asifmorio@yahoo.com If we march along the course of history due to opulence and generosity of Sindh different communities of the world has been moved here, the majority among out comers were Persian, Greek, Arab, Aryans, Turkhan, Mongols, Dutch, French, English etc: this cruel course of history is continue even today, because the advent of nomadic nations and gipsy communities from different parts of the earth and outside provinces or bordering countries toward Sindh is never stopped. Sindhi people not only welcomed the wandering visitors used to come here from different regions of the world through ages but also impressed them with loving behavior and warm hospitality on such scale that mainstream among the infiltrators preferred to live here rather than to go back their respective homelands. Every traveling family, ethnic group or nation which moved around here, carried their ways of life, like traditions, values, rites, rituals, culture, folklore, dwelling systems, ideologies, beliefs, philosophies etc: along with them, the inhabitants of Sindh patronized those all cordially, while among the guests who went back to their respective native soils sponsored communal values, spiritual stuffs and cultural principles of Sindh amid them. Arab traders accustomed sugar candy in Sindh and took horns of rhinoceros from here to sell in China. Al-Mehlib (the Arabian tribe) transported Hens and Buffaloes of Sindh toward Iraq and China, Arabs also carried prey dogs from Sindhi soldiers as a tribute. These people furthermore carried betel leaf from here and harvested in Oman whereas they brought seeds of taramid tree from Basra. People of Sindh learned honey making process, agriculture of dot tree and making of sweet meal with dot palms from Arabs. The Persians brought perfume, olive and water lily from Khurasan, pomegranate is also Persian gift and they in addition gave us seeds of bringal. Grapes have been planted here during the era of Abbasid dynasty, British carried kernel of orange from here In divine book %u201CTouret%u201D is written that %u201CSuleman brought Peacock, musk, gold and rhinoceros from Sindh%u201D. In 808 AD a doctor named Manik has been called upon for treatment of incurable disease of Abbasi Caliph Haroon Rasheed, after completing successful treatment, Sultan appointed him chief supervisor of the royal hospital at Baghdad. During the era of Yehya Bermki a Sindhi physician named Ibn-e-Dhanna had been appointed an administrative officer at the hospital of Baghdad, this man introduced there Sindhi method of treatment. During invasion of Alexander the great on Sindh the king of Alor gifted him medicine of snake bite whereas a pair of yellow pigeons was presented him by a monarch. During this era Greek learned the treatment of poisons and herbal knowledge from Sindhi doctors. They also carried Sindhi cotton (cloth) from here of which they praised in their books as %u201CSindhin%u201D, whereas method of teaching and art left by Greeks is part of Sindhi culture even today. In this way due to exchange (which extracted through the ages) of different customs, traditions, things, assets, national and religious values of guest companies Sindh became lodging of complex civilization and ideologies. Though such happenings smashed up the original characteristics of Sindhi culture but also became beneficial with the exchange of rich cultural heritages of the different nations of the world. Such changes and exchanges were not bound only with overseas or distant populations but were usual with bordering nations, among such other civilizing interactions a beautiful piece of cultural art is Sindhi Cap which was introduced among Sindhi natives from neighboring Baloch people. A reason regarding the convey of Balochi cap among Sindhi people was that northern areas of Sindh is bordered with Baluchistan, for that basis the replacement of every aspect of life was order of the day. That time Balochi people used to wear turban upon the cap, copying them Sindhi people also patronized the method, though this has been ended now but in few remote regions of the both provinces same style is still prevailing, whereas in some areas cap has been taken away from turban and on some vicinities load of turban has been suspended. Unfortunately by and large both nations has now thrown away turban and cap from the head thinking these unreasonable weight or out of fashion thing what were once sign of respect, personality and pride. During the eighteen and nineteenth century AD, covering head with turban, cap or cloth was considered as a sigh of soberness among the people of Sindh and Balochistan, while uncovered head was measured as social indulgence, therefore according to their status people always keep their heads covered. In most few areas of both provinces the men with uncovered skull had been prosecuted, fined or socially boycotted, even today in many regions around Pakistan the concept of head covering is respectfully accustomed. During its early phase two type of caps has been used to cover heads, one made by sewing two folds of white cloth, its four sides had been circular with which complete forehead could be covered, pious and religious people like to wear that. Second kind of cap was prepared by silk and golden fibers (threads), curved with beautiful embellishment and ornamented with pieces of glasses to extend its sober attire. This cap has been incised from forehead in the way (like half moon) that both curving corners touches right and left mandible. By the time many changes has been commenced into style plus crafts of cap, hardness and softness of cloth etc:, keeping the seasons of the year in view numerous alterations has also been brought in, like some times increasing pearls with glasses and some times decreasing those. Transaction of cap from Baloch to Sindhi people also seen several innovations seemingly correlated with Sindhi culture and the time came this cap has merged with particular Sindhi dress, sober structure, walking style etc: and called "Sindhi Cap. In any part of the Pakistan if you see some one worn Sindhi cap he must be thought Sindhi or resident of Sindh. Making of Sindhi cap is like constructing a building where there is base, walls, floor, roof, color, plaster etc: plus the periods of polish and shining also. There are five styles of cap, round (circular), four cornered, fancy, betel leaf shaped and the cap having different designs. Prevailing style of cap has been passed from three different phases of its evaluation. 1. Silky Era. Before the partition of sub-continent best kind of silk had been imported from Kashmir with which Sindhi cap makers designs the cap and decorated ornamentation of different things as pieces of plastic, pearls, glasses etc: to create fine-looking caps. Such caps have been mostly worn under the turban in such style that cap peeps out of the turban like hump of bullock or camel. That was not similar to the rounded cap prevailed today but was cut from forehead like half moon, this kind of cap has almost been outdated. 2. Phase of Collyrium. The cap of this period was different than that of silky one because collyrium has been used instead of glittering golden threads or pieces of glasses. Cap producers create such beautiful lines, decoration and flowering designs with collyrium on cloth (mostly silk) of different color that having seen their art heart filled in high spirits. Lines of collyrium glittered in the light of sun as strips of phosphorus written behind the vehicles, reflects back the beams when head light of other vehicles thrown on those during dark. Top (roof) of the cap had been decorated with interesting geometrical figures like, half, circular, rectangular, four-cornered, oblique, moon, sun, and stars etc. These caps were not very durable because after became dirty if washed, the grayish color and shining went away, in this way after three or four time cleaning no where to found its beauty. 3. Phase of Golden threads. Two or three folds of cloth have been used in this kind of cap which was made inflexible by using hard cloth between the folds. The cap had been incised in orchid shape at its opening, in a way that complete head covered whereas the forehead remained open. With the passage of time keeping in view the disposition of wearer plus needs of modern world, new styles and designs has been introduced, as some times striking with national movements designing the map of Sindh, national slogans plus flag, figures of national heroes, axes, mosques, tombs, old and new geometrical shapes, Ajrak (Sindhi shawl) etc: has been designed. Though many changes have been introduced in the industry of cap making but not much difference can be found between old and new Sindhi cap. like other cultural heritages of Sindh nothing has been done for the development and maturity of Sindhi cap or its makers, neither any step has been taken by government missionaries nor private institutions or social organizations did anything, rather they has been denied and distorted by the authorities. Forgetting the cultured character of our cap in sociology, history and literature we bounded its use only on special occasions or gatherings like marriage. In spite of this state of rejection regarding this art, cottage industry of Sindhi cap making is with us winning all interferences in the travel of times, present life and conservation of this skill goes to the genuine struggle of Sindhi and Baloch women whose are more effective and active than male artists. Nonetheless, due to introduction of modern technology manual work has effected on great scale even though a class among new generation of cap lovers mostly like to wear the cap made of hand. Wherever is education around the globe, the nations of world are busy to save their national and cultural heritages, whether it is in form of archaeology, history, dress, language, literature, land etc: but among us where rays of education reached, our cultural and traditional heritages has been ignored and destroyed there. Thus the tradition of cap wearing has mostly remained only in less educated and northern districts of Sindh like Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Shikarpur and Nawabshah, but the percentage of its use has been decreasing day by day. Though the past of Sindhi nation is excellent but present is alarmingly worse, its current generation has became prey of Europe like other nations of the Pakistan. Due to infiltration of borrowed schooling syllabus and conquest of foreign media and being victim of downfall against foreign civilizations we are destroying our national heritages and cultural legacies with our own hands Sindhi cap is also among those. In this connection we should have to be grateful the poor and amateurish section of our society who has protected this cultural heritage because they think it sin to uncover their heads, in this state of affairs the cultured legacy of Sindhi cap can be claimed by this group because they are not only makers of the cap but also protectors of expertise and exercise.

Munwar Abro Asif Raza Morio asifrazamorio@gmail.com 03047712354. Magical artist of colors lines shades and margins. He is compendium of unusual attributes, delivery of human simplicities, non-jealous, non-Hippocratic and innocent man of lakhnvi social manners, who is unaware of his valuable art and thinks himself only a laborer his needs. His manners have always been welcomed for his friends and fans. Though he is not a man of faith and credence but one who knew him well must be confessor of his natural spirituality. He in our friends is only male whose sentiments remaining in colored life of media have always been cold like a mendicant girl. I believe he is from broken chain of social prophets who standing on the heights of fame and respect feels himself dusty and nothing.. A state of calmness and tranquility has been found in the tempered accentuation and deep eyes of this shallow colored artist. In this era of scarcity of human values such attributive qualities can hardly been found in this material made society. But this is also fact, that who knew Munwar abro closely, must have opinion, that I have been very cautious about him in this essay because his personality is taller than my words and meanings. If we peep down from the high steeples of fame which Munwar abro is enjoying today, a long series of hard, difficult and determined life have been seen, stretched like examination of patience from his village, fields, dusty dumpy banks of rice canal, channa bride to Mehran Engineering university Nawabshah and than Mehran to karachi. Painting is a different specifically of vision, special mode of expression, which transmits change and unchangeable faces of life, calmness of universe, elegances of beauty and feelings differently with combination of colors, shades and lines. Mnwar Abro is reputed name of this world of art that in world of notion and imagination has selected this interesting manner of identity for himself that helped him in conquering new horizons of the universe of art. This manner of Munwar Abro is lethal weapon against the evil customs of societies, degradation to spring of Adam and Eva, humiliation of human rights and violation of universal brotherhood and equalism. His ammunitions are lines, margins, shades, borders, shadows and these weapons are acting as words, meanings, sentences and grammar in world of letters. Munwar Abro is enforcing wisdom, intellect, sense and these along with marking the peeping ulcers of society, exposing unwanted political, social and legal enforcements, illogical laws, unnecessary religious customs and harmful political systems. Munwar Abro%u2019s village Pyaro wahan is situated on the western side of remains of five thousands years ancient city Moen-jo-daro of Indus valley civilization, struggle of this rural young has always been difficult since child hood, when his father expired during his first decade. Crushing under the feelings of orphanism, shaded hands of his mother has always been helping and encouraging for him. Completing his early education succeeded to get admission in Mehran engineering university Nawab shah where he supermaced his educational activities to progressive, political and social. Meanwhile he continued exercising on set designing, painting, carry catching, visaging, scening, calligraphy along with effacing and defacing his friends, teachers and employees of university in his cartoons. At that time looking at painting and cartoons of leading artists published in different newspapers he dreamed to be like those to whom he left miles behind in this race today. Munwar abro had also applied in NED University for admission where he succeeded but as he could not afford the expenses of NED and Karachi therefore he preferred Mehran where he could manage his education and earning. Owner of Sikander Art Gallery Nawabshah Qazi Khizr Hayyat was student of Munawar Abro%u2019s father who has been commuting in the village even after the demise of his teacher. He was fully aware of Munwar%u2019s fondness and thirst for art, who therefore took Munwar to Nawabshah where he started to help him to prepare ceramics work, painting and calligraphy etc. It will not be wrong to say that after Munwar%u2019s advent most of the work of Qazi Sahib has been done by him, moreover Munwar also run road side little handicrafts shop of Khizr Hayyat at Nawabshah Railway station. For all this labor very injustice wages has been given to Munwar but that was a bone for him because he could have manage his expenses otherwise it might not be possible for him to be an Engineer and Munwar abro what he is now. That time a weekly Newspaper named JIHAD has been issued from Nwabshah, that was all written, set, paint and paste by Munwar, for years he manage that newspaper and it was height of his art and calligraphy that no any reader and viewer could understand it unprinted or hand written He has been simple and gentle during early days of his study in Mehran University, used to sit quietly in classroom. No matter he understand the lecture or not, but he must listened that carefully whereas his fingers had always been sketched movements, postures and gestures of teachers by playing with the pen or pencil. Today he confessed even that he was so simple, during primary months of his admission in Mehran when all the students left the class for workshop period Munwar used to thought that it is leave and he proceeded to his hostel room. More over it was cold season and for almost whole the season he got bath with freezing water, whereas all the hostels has been facilitated with geezer systems. One day Munwar saw a student filling the water from a spout and warm steam were springing out from the water. On enquiry Munwar came to know that the thing like a tubular jar sticked on the wall has been called geezer and it has been installed to provide hot water for bath in cold season and its server spout is located at right side of wash basin. Today two social and reforming organizations are active in Mehran and have been working for corrective and socifierism of students, patients and needy. One among those is MEBDA: (Mehran Blood Donars association) whose main object and motto is to help needy provide blood from university students to patients of the hospitals of the city Nawabshah. To fulfill this noble cause Munwar abro his friends had made index of the blood groups of the all students of the university. Moreover they always were in touch with hospitals, dispensaries and Medical centers of the city. MEIF ( Mehran Engineers Intellectuals Forum) was an other organization whose nature of work was to celebrate educational, amuse mental, quiz competition programs, holding seminars on general and scientific knowledge, publishing College Magazine, establishing libraries in hostels campuses, to organize books fairs, stage programmers, conduct literary evenings and nights also, Munawar abro was pioneer member and covenanted of both organizations. Even today when ever he used to write letter to university employees and new students he must write them " please, take care of MEIF and MEBDA. During study and exhibition of his paintings has been held in A, sector of university where gentry of district Nawabshah and Hyderabad rushed in the sector, vice chancellor also visited and all praised his art. Today Munwar recalls the moments as golden memories of his life what he spends in corridors of and ways to campus in profligacy and vagrancy. According to him this era has really given him proper nourishment while holding his finger, this era helped him in growing my artist, that time helped him in understand his future, aims and ambitions, gave him good friends who are more than worldly treasure for me even today. Recollect praising the scenes, affairs, friends and opponents along with days of campus and nights of hostels in his poetry and art went back to his village after completing his professional years. But he was not a man of leisure; he set out to search his subsistence and fate in the cruel city of Karachi. Where his foremost aim was to prepare the land for nourishment of his dreams. He has no personal dream but has dreams related to his lovers and dependents, education of brother, house holdings of sisters, dreams of best oldness of his mother, dreams of fulfilling his responsibilities. In the way of developing these dreams Munwar choose the travel of hailing sun, where scorching beams of dreadful sky and grieving worldly hindrances always tried to stop him back of his intentions. But anguished severities could not melt idols of his ambitions, which with the passage of time grow higher and denser. Secret of Munwar abro%u2019s success is concealed in negative ness of his own wishes and in his love for people and society. His helpless nesses created honesty, sympathy and sacrifice among him. His struggle is best example of uprightness, steadiness and unusual self-confidence. He knew that great abilities of creation are drowsing into him therefore ambitions of exploring his intelligences never left him alone and live like twin. In Karachi Munwar started his exploration like a inglorious Island from a barrowed little shop of Glass tower. Where he sown the seeds of his future and fortune by portraying pictures, posters, postcards, scenes and cartoons for customers. During this time he lived in barrowed houses, cook and wash clothes by himself, to save tiny fares of public transport or buses he walk for miles%u2026And one day came when his honest struggle, rectitude determination and firmness became color fruitful for him. That fruitfulness gave life to countless golden horizons and today all these colors along with their beauties and bounties can be seen spread on regional, national, international newspapers and magazines. Fascinating wears and handsome garbs of this color can also be view stretching their wings from print media to electronic media. Largest circulated Sindhi Newspaper KAWISH is mother institution for his fame and stability as an artist, Munwar%u2019s cartoon in this Newspaper has always been considered like jewel in crown. It is always said that this cartoon has great deal with day by day increasing circulation of Kawish. More than 80 percent readers want to see Munwar%u2019s cartoon on back page before they read the news because cartoons are always interesting, different and new like scenes of circus. Commonly readers feel nausea and perversion while reading ethic less, profigacical, awful and unprintable news, matters and the pictures full of blood, with broken limbs, death, accident, wars, bombs etc. While that time of nausea Munwar%u2019s interesting and dimensional cartoons compel readers to smile, one can say that his cartoons always balances the readers stress came from such bad news. Munwar has given new trend to cartoongraphy and based the art of carry catching on modern patterns. His cartoons unveil detestable pictures, awful faces and dreadful truth of our society what always are unseen from common people. He exposes all those cancerous roots of our society in fair manner before us. Best way of medicating evil customs, loathsome traditions, ado mine laws and horrid means can be seen in his paintings and cartoons. All elegances of universe, life and beauties are stretching their limbs in his pictures. He drops honey of truth; and love by sucking the dreadful acridness and acrimoniousness of society with the nib of pen, which transmits cold and sweet feelings in this era of yellow journalism. Munwar abro is such union of modem and old art of carry catching which can be juicy, luscious like the rhythms of Beethoven. One more Bhutto came across of a tragic end pursuant to a coward, brutal attack. Poltical Horizon of Pakistan revisits a chaotic situation while it was already in phase of transition to democracy. A great challenging voice against dictatorship and fundamentalism has been eliminated. She initiated her ploitical career in 1979 by challenging Martial Law of Zia Ul Haq, who was in place after overthrowing her father from power. She bore stern circumstances and ultimately was consigned on exile. In 1986, she came with a new determination for return of constitutional rule. After death of Zia, she won the federal rule but lost punjab. Her rule fell just after 20 months due to unbalanced power division between presidency and Chief Executive, and hung, polarized tiers of governance from Federation to provinces, and on the premise of Corruption Charges mainly instituted on the alleged deeds of her husband and cabinet fellows. She ruled Pakistan twice. During her reigns, Pakistan re carved its presence on the map of commonwealth, augmented its strategic assets, attained conventional balance by diluting Pressler through Brown amendment, pushed peace process with India tangibly forward, succinctly worked on its foreign policy to re bond itself with big powers by converting its perception of being a vulnerable state known( for having an alleged plight with Islamic Fundamentalism), and re-attained locus standi for Kashmir issue on international countenance. She was overthrown from power second time in 1996 but she continued to re-engineer old ideas into novel shape. The sterling mind deeply realized that hard lined South Asian Division did nothing but promoted enmity and massively outlaid for military establishments hitting resources, which otherwise could be used for economic redemption and which realization geared her up to strongly advocate the idea of Union of South Asia without loss of political identity on the lines Europe Consolidated for optimal redemption of resources, both natural and converted, talent and experiences, and for a flexible solution to Kashmir issue founded on the historical traces of Irish Resolution. On the meritorious gauge, she was a great stateswoman of international stature. Her death is a great loss to Pakistan as well as international community. We shall miss the roaring lioness and platinum of South Asia greatly. May her soul rest in peace.

Familie en nabestaanden heel veel sterkte met het verlies. Ik hoop dat de VS en zijn bondgenoten eens en voor altijd begrijpen dat ook zij hier een aandeel in hebben.

Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rajiun. Ameen! "To Allah we came, and to Him is our return. Amen!" May Allah Almighty grant forgiveness, eternal rest, and mercy to the blessed soul of the martyr, Hazrat Muhtarama Begum Benazir Bhutto Sahiba, al-Marhuma. She was an indefatigable symbol of Muslim womanhood and Islamic moderation. May we never forget her illustrious example of bravery and martyrdom for the cause of genuine peoples' rule in Pakistan. May the Muslim women find in her a beautiful exemplar to emulate. May Muslim women, like her, proudly take their rightful place under the sun of freedom, equality, and justice. May Muslim men find her a shining model of courage, firm determination, and steadfastness. We pray to our Hazrat Allahu Taala to send us thousands of Benazir Bhutto whose lives are willing and ready to be sacrificed in the altar of freedom. I feel very forlorn and depressed upon hearing of her untimely demise, but I rest my hope in the justice of Hazrat Allah Almighty Who will give retribution for whom retribution is due. I trust in the justice (adl) and taqdeer (predestination) of Allahu Taala. Inshaallah, the real perpetrators of this despicable act will be brought to the iron hand of divine justice. I supplicate to Almighty Allah that He will illumine the blessed grave of Hazrat Begum Benazir Bhutto Shahida. May she receive manifold mercies and may the angels bring her to Jannatul Naeem (promised Paradise). Ameen, thumma Ameen!

My condolences to the Bhutto family, her husband and children, and to the people of Pakistan. You have lost one of the great defenders of democracy, one who could have led Pakistan to a new era of freedom and justice. A very brave woman has died and a shining light, a beacon has gone out. A great loss not only to Pakistan but to the whole world. I grieve with you.
